25 Things I learned in 2008

Photobucket

Scooby Doobie Stylinaire. Chance looks just like Scooby Doo. In fact I met Scooby Doo a long time ago at 6 Flags, I was like 8 years old so it’s kinda foggy but now I look back and I’m wondering if I was mistaken and if that was really was Chance.

My Universe. I can create and customize my life/surroundings when I know exactly what I want and don’t want in my life and stick to it.

People make the world. The more people that know your goals and dreams the closer you will be to achieving it. There are t sides to this first you must believe 100% then others will see it in you and provoke dialogue about it. Next thing you know a friend of a friend is opening a door of opportunity for you.

Garden Fresh. Garden burgers are way better than Boca, you just get more flavor with the Garden burger.

Business Battles. Running a business is not the easy way out by any means. Business really means busyness.

Mark your World before you Leave. When you die what will you leave behind that says I was here. CREATE!

Pucker Up. Carmex is a far better lip moisturizer than the rest.

Honesty’s the Policy. Being honest and giving your honest opinion is two totally different things! Just because you’re being honest doesn’t make it true.

Psychic Link. Contact that person that is on your mind even if it’s just to say, “hey just thinking about you- hope all is well”.

RIP ME. Stress is the cause of cancer. Just trust me on this one.

Help Wanted. It’s ok to ask for help and accept help and it’s even better to give help. I saw this talk show on CNN about Happy Millionaires and one dude said something that really stuck. He said, find five people that are doing what you aspirer to do (even if its just the way they feel about themselves) and find out how you can help them.

Whats His Name??? Terrance Howard is that dude's name that plays in all those movies.

Go Even When You Don’t Know. If its in your heart you must go for it. And, if your not sure- your not alone, don’t let that confine you. Don’t let that define you.

Fuck The Police. Cops can give you a ticket for just about anything. From not having your signature on your car title to, taking too long to walk across the street.

Fountain of Truth. Your aging process it directly linked to the degree of events that you look forward to in your life. Always be interested in life. Be excited about new possibilities and what you can achieve next! (might sound lame but its not)

Black Guys. It’s Inevitable. If you have at least four black guys in a room (unless it’s a black tie affair) they will start talking about each other. Its called “Cutting” on each other. I learned it in public school the hard way, you just point out something funny about someone and they return the favor. The only way to lose is to take offense and not be able to laugh at your self. It’s all done in fun and love regardless of how hurtful it can seem. Now the part I didn’t know is that not everybody is used to this type of comradely behavior. And, It makes some people super uncomfortable and overly defensive. When I noticed how strange it made some people feel due to the fact that they just didn’t get it, I realized that it’s really not a good thing. Then I realized that it has a really good factor it allows you to be comfortable laughing at your self, when you get a tap on the chin you can laugh it off.

White Guys. Seen It A Million Times. If you have at least four white guys in a room with drugs or alcohol one (the alpha male) will start doing this thing where he tries to punch someone from a couple inches away. I think its some Bruce Lee thing they might even line up a few other guys and make them believe that they can all feel the energy of this one knuckle, two inches away, male thrust. It is usually a lead way into a friendly fight were a lamp gets knocked over and some girl comes in and starts screaming (always on time- a couple seconds latter and it would have gotten serious).

You Like That??? I kinda knew this but this year it was made fact. When you create something there should come a time where you let go of your criticism and realize that there is an audience for all things. I have been at some friends houses this year and found some art laying around that they created and they can’t believe I like it so much! A bit of modesty and a ton of self doubt well, I say don’t be so selfish and share it with the world. Infact this year I had an art showing, I painted to pieces and the one that was perfect to me (came out just like I saw it in my head) didn’t sell. The other one that I felt I made all types of mistakes on and just didn’t come out like I wanted it to SOLD! You never know what someone else will see. LOL, I didn’t expect either one of them to sell, I even wish I knew who bought it because I would give them the other piece just because they bought the one I don’t like.

Barock TheVote. Regardless of where you are from, who your parents are, what your name is, what your race is(wow), and regardless of all the outlandish slander and harmful propaganda that is hurled at you; you can rise above it and accomplish amazing things!

Super! Super Metroid on Super NES was a super dope game. We had a SEGA when I was a kid so I never played it until now.

Ok I’ll try! Corn Hole is kinda fun- difficult though and Kurt will kick your ass in Corn Hole

The S in CSI is for Snake. That Dude from CSI Miami that talks with a lame, dark, cool, mono-tonistic uber tuff guy grimace; is not a bad actor he’s only acting like a not so bad actor that played a bad character in a bader movie. I finally saw a somewhat of a cult classic Escape From New York. A movie starring Kurt Russell and Isaac Hayes where the whole of New York is a Mad Maxx style prison and Kurt aka Snake has to go in and save the President who has be captured and held hostage. The movie does have some good qualities, they put an explosive device in Snake’s head for insurance (novel idea), a semi-slow motion spike bat face off, and a pimped out car with chandelier headlights. Anyway, the dude from CSI is a straight rip of this Snake character and I know the Snake dude is probably a rip from some other movie.

Silent Treatment. Chicago Audiences will try to stare you down for the first couple of songs to see if they can get to you and make you break. If they can’t then your cool and they can enjoy it.

Girl Talk. I love girls that don’t like me (straight up problem)

Gota Pay to Play. It’s gonna cost way too much to party on New Years

Designer Drugs is the American electronic music duo consisting of Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson. The name Designer Drugs is derived from the term used to describe psychoactive drugs made by underground chemists in order to create street drugs that are not specifically listed as controlled substances.
The group is most commonly known for their remixes, but in October 2008 released their debut single "Zombies!" and "Back Up In This" for Franki Chan's record label - Iheartcomix

Grey Granite and J.Brookinz have been making a lot of noise for danceable hip-hop in Indianapolis. Grey's newest mixtape "Grey Granite Amplifies the Killers" that was produced entirely by J.Brookinz has been receiving a lot of attention lately for it's originality and skill. Who would have thought that a local hip-hop cat would choose a dance punk label to jack for instrumentals? In addition to his work w/ Grey Granite, J.Brookinz also recently won a remix competition for XXL Magazine and was featured on the hip-hop blog 2dopeboyz.com.

Ohhhh nice one G with Cruel Summer. Shit I watched Karate Kid just for that song. I will throw down another great 80's movie hit. The breakdown at the beginning is epic and makes me jizz my pants.

Benard Goetz I mean Charles Bronson I mean Clint Eastwood

New Movie about a Racist Vigilante well, I hope not but it looks like it. Looks like all types of awards are going to be won by Eastwood in this film. I just hope its not another scared (aka racist) to the brink of a mass killing spree Charles Bronson flick I hate those they only make things worst out here in the real world. We really don't need another Benard Goetz! If you were a kid in NY in the 80's (or just spent a while there) you have heard of this name. Dude thought he was Mr. Bronson himself, he went on the train and sat in the back where everybody knew that you SHOULD NOT GO unless you planed to be robbed and or stabbed. Some kids asked him to give up the $ and he quickly pulled out a Bronson Revolver and killed'em. NY Hero (that stood up to those criminals for all the Innocent old ladies that have ever been robbed) to some... And, Cold Blooded Killer that went looking for some young punks to kill- planed/premeditated murderer.

more on Bernard Goetz

I hope this movie has a twist and doesn't just run down the same old racially tense line.

Happy Hanukkah!

Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish folks! I have a deep admiration for the Israeli/Jewish culture. In fact for a while I spoke more Hebrew than French. After college I was very close to joining the Israeli Defense Forces but shit got hot over in Lebanon and I passed. So my gift to all y'all is a couple MP3's...From the Last Dragon Soundtrack!! Whaaaaaaaaaaat Yeah I said it. But 812 what does Hanukkah and the Last Dragon have to do with each other?! Well, both are pretty badass and the Last Dragon has the stereotypical "greedy Jewish Hollywood" guy. Seriously people, not all jewish people love money! Shit, everyone does! This stereotype needs to die in 09

Salvia: Good Idea or Bad Idea?

There's tons of Salvia trips on Youtube. The drug is legal as long as your 18 and over. You can find it at your local "head" shop. I talked to a friend I used to work with about what the high was like. He said it was "the closest thing to meeting God" and that he did it once and never again. I didn't know what to think of his response. What do you think?

Good Idea or Bad Idea?

He didn't give me too much stuff but did say, " Yeah its not a big deal just wanted to make sure you where not an illegal who stole are car or something." Didn't check my ID or anything. Its nice being the minority people don't worry about.

I'm ok, but is vinyl?

Super storm 2008 (As I have so dubbed it) has been gripping Arizona for the last 2 days. A massive 10 mile wind from the north is coming down and a gigantic .5 in of rain has blasted the area. My food stores were low so I braved the weather in search of some protein. In -n- Out burger is easily my favorite burger joint. Sorry Indiana folks you are not cool enough to have one. But I was told to hit up FatBurger. I honestly thought it was just a made up joint from the Nick show Kenan and Kel. Nope it’s real. I’m not going to lie I was a little disappointed with it. The fries were like burger king fries (Foul!!!) the burger was overall yummy but not great. In-n-Out still kills.
Afterwards, I hit up this record store. It was a small cool little shop, with all types of genres. I picked up a couple local artists who had some 10’ inches out. I didn’t even listen to them but 2 of them had colored vinyl and some nice art work. And pretty much anytime local folks take time do go out of their way to press vinyl and do nice art work I feel the need to support. Which gets me to my question…? What is everyone one else’s vinyl buying habits? Do you still buy it? If you have switched to serato but still have tons of old pieces lying around, what are you going to do with them? Keep them? Sell them? Has the market for old breaks bottomed out? I have my ultimate list of about 150 records I would like to have for varies sentimental reasons but thats pretty much it. I still buy if I think something is cool, but my motives have changed alot. I have seen studies that say the sales of vinyl are up the last few years. But I think that is just due to nice box sets the artist are putting out (think Portishead). But what do I know I’m just a drunk dude with no job. What do youuuuu think?

Top 10 Best Cartoons

Top 10 Best Cartoons

I have always been a BIG toon fan and it never really stopped for some reason...
I have seen'em all and Here are the best one's out there.

Photobucket

10. Voltron
This came on before I was born I think I was watching re-runs or maybe it came on cable... Not sure but I did have a friend that had the toys. The toy was dope so I think it made me think the cartoon was good as well. The cartoon was good the first couple of times you saw it then it quickly became clear that it was a recycled plot and only the Rowe Beast was changing.

Photobucket

9. Transformers
This was just cool well... for boys. We like cars, we like, robots, we like guns, we like fighting, we like dinosaurs, we like all of that combined in a cartoon! + Best toys ever!

Photobucket

8. Thunder Cats
I was young and this was way better than lame He man. It was actually a different episode each day and not the same old recycled plot with a new bad guy- well, not all the time.

Photobucket

7. X Men
You really can't go wrong here the books are old as hell but the story is still potent as long as we have inequality.

Photobucket

6.The Simpsons / Warner Bothers
The Simpsons
Gota give it up to the mother of all, and for a large number of years they held it down for American humor.

Warner Bothers
Bugs, Daffy, Slyvester, ect... Forever fun!

Photobucket

5. Avatar The Last Air Bender
They finally came out with a toon worth watching again- It's about time! This is another one with amazing writers, they travel into the minds and view points of the villains, civilians, young and old. Rarely seen in a toon. Plus, the fight scenes are the best I've seen in an American released toon.

Photobucket

4. Ren and Stimpy / South Park

Ren and Stimpy
Funny funny stuff raw, honest and raunchy just like I like it! And, I was a kid when this came out.

South Park
Love the way they take a hot topic and spin it- show it from a different angle

Photobucket

3. Futurama
The most clever show of all time- the creators of this show should run this country! They are informed and have some creative ideas on what can be done.

Photobucket

2. Family Guy
They took comedy to a new level and beyond. With the vast amount of past and present pop culture references + a sick sense of humor only known to audiences of today.

Photobucket

1. Batman The Animated Series
Was this a cartoon ??? Story lines made for the silver screen condensed into a 30min cartoon- WOW! + BATMAN!

Worst Cartoon Ever:
Kids Next Door
Alvin and The Chipmunks

Honorable Mention:
Aeon Flux
Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends
Sponge Bob Square Pants
Hana Barbara (they had like a billion cartoons but really they only had 4 they were just variations of the 4)
Tom and Jerry

The Wrestler:

The Wrestler:

This New Movie looks really good to me and I just thought it was a given but, the lovely lady I saw this preview with thought differently. Then I thought to myself why does this movie look so interesting to me... ??? Well besides the fact that as a child I spent a couple hours every week eyes glued to USA (tv station) watching Bret Hart, Hulk, The Undertaker, and The Million Dollar Man in an all out battered blood fest. Their is another reason I will definitely be watching this movie. About a year ago me and Bob G Barker aka Rocco were flipping through the channels and he stoped on an very interesting documentary about... go figure Bret Hart, It a told the story of a professional wrestler that changed the way I looked at the game. The politics, the families, the fans, the relationships between the Mangers, Fighters, and Owners. This guy went through it all! He was tricked and sold out by his long time friend and boss, he watched the whole game change, "Now people are cheering and routing for the bad guy" (Steve Austin), offers from the other side WCW and on top of all that his brother died in the ring!!! A must see Net Flicks it even if you are not a fan of wrestling.

ps. Listen to dudes almost sadistic father in this clip

15 mins of fame

I remember back in 7th grade my homie Tyree flipped me a copy of Nirvana's epic CD Nevermind. I had recalled seeing the video for "Teen Spirit" on constant rotation on MTV but I had never listened to the whole flipping album. Afterschool I hopped on the bus and popped it in my CD walkman. HOTSHIT AMAZING.

So when I read about the little baby who was on the cover is now 17 and is still making money off of it, I damn near shot someone.
"Stuff happens like random cool situations where I get paid $500 just to go hang out," Elden said. "People just call me up and they're like, 'Hey you're the Nirvana baby, right? Well just come and swim in my pool and we'll give you some money"

Homie your 15 mins of fame are up its time for someone else to get theirs....

Black and White

So I rolled up to my 7/11 and picked up my King Cobra 40. Don’t get it twisted just because I’m rich doesn’t mean I don’t get grimy. I remember back at IU I use to walk to the Village Pantry and pick up one of these or a Mickeys for $1.15. Yeah 40 Oz’s shit was cheaper than a bottle of water. Motherfuckers are like 3 bucks now! Anywayyyyys. So my man at the 7/11 is Remy. He is this guy from Iran. He was the first person I talked to when I got to Phoenix. The first thing he said was, “are you Charles Barkley’s son or friend?” Apparently CB and I are the only black folks that live in the neighborhood. Since then he has always dropped nuggets of wisdom on me. Almost like my own person Mr. Wendell. Tonight’s nugget was …
”Don’t use dryer sheets they have chemicals”.
Whaaaaaaaaaa
“Yeah if you wanna get rid of static cling use a quarter cup of vinger in your wash”
I said I got it I’m gone

The word “static” made me think of when I watched Do the Right Thing with my hoomie 2deep…

Radio Rahem made me think of black and white, not people but photos. I just love black and white photos. The first art I bought for the new crib is the last picture, Its done by Ted Pushinsky
Here is his website...Ted

Hello it's Hova

No not really. But I do go by the name “812” “Smith…&….Wesson” “Mr. Big Thang Jigalang” “That big black dude” or if you prefer my government name. I have been brought in to this blog to bring the “Gun” back into “Heavy Gun”. Sorry JB but your last post was pretty gay ( no homo well maybe a little)

I’m a true international player (really hate it when people use the word “playa” it’s just dumb) I was born in France, but lived in Indiana most of my live. I just moved out to Phoenix, Arizona.

I DJ if you wanna call it that. I mostly step out on stage play some fast shit whip out my dick then leave. Other than that I’m in a period of what I call semi retirement. I don’t really work. I’m a mixture of old and new money. So what do I do all day you ask?

1. I stay awake all night, not because I don’t have to go to work but because two episodes of the Steve Harvey Show comes on at 4:30 am then followed by 4(!!!!) episodes of Married with Children . I mean it would just be stupid to wake up at 4:30 so I just stay up.

2. I then get dressed in a suit and go to the Original House of Pancakes. Why would I do such a thing? To get chicks! Duh!! I always get a stool by the window and read the stock market listings. See this is the real funny part. Who the fuck checks the paper for stocks?! I got the internets with my CNN ticker! But it goes back to chicks. So I’m reading my stocks make sure a hottie is around make some type of noise and complain about how my stocks are down. Once I have the chicks attention I whip out my checkbook and write a check for 5 grand to some bitch ass charity.Even though I'm losing money, I still give to charity. Bitches love that. By that time the chick is as easy as hair grease. I then setup some lunch or dinner date. Try it fellas.

3. Afterwards I go to the driving range. Cuz that’s what young rich folk do.

4. The Lunch with the lucky lady

5. After that my afternoons are pretty free. The most involve napping because I did not sleep the night before.

So yeah that’s me. I guess I will keep up the tradition of hitting yall up with the coolest shiznat.

I didn't know till about 2 years ago Marc Ecko was a white dude. I should have known by the name Marc, who the fuck spells there name like that?! White People. anyways Here is .a little dope hoodie. Shitz can be found here.

Thats it for right now. I'm about to go hit up my 7/11 and get a couple King Cobras and party down with the Pregnant chick who lives next to me. I will be back in a few hours with some more artistic shit.

Words of Wisdom: Friends

brookz1.jpg picture by jbrookinz<<< J.Brookinz

After many moons I've finally figured out a system for hiring, keeping, and firing friends(that's right it's job). It can be a pretty tricky thing to figure out. You may ask yourself these questions"Do I stay friends with this dumb motherfucker?" or "DAMN, this is my friend but they're always fuckin my shit up!" I mean c'mon, it's hard to tell a person that believes that you're bossom buddies that they should "fuck off" and take a long walk on a short pier.

Here's my method. It's simple

1. Think of all the (memorable) experiences you've had with your friend or so-called friend.

2. File every experience in the following categories: GOOD and BAD.

3. Come up with a percentage for the "Bad" category. (example: Total 100 experiences 75 good and 25 bad. Use this formula ....no wait...just go here http://www.marshu.com/articles/calculate-percent-of-total.php...Stoopid!)

4. Check these charts

If you have a lot of friends chart!
bad times percentage :
