Musical Family Tree Interviews Grey Granite


There are actually quite a few talented rappers and hip hop producers in Indianapolis’s underground music scene. And there are many reasons that this fact seems to go unrecognized, as I learned in a recent conversation with local emcee / vocalist / blogger Grey Granite. Grey and a handful of others are working to change Indy’s reputation as an unknown city in the larger music world. As he stated recently in an excellent NUVO piece highlighting Indiana hip hop, Grey Granite is convinced that if just one person can break out of the city and into the national spotlight, the floodgates would open for everyone else. It seems that he is up to the challenge, and, lately, he’s thinking that an entire group of talented artists could make it happen together.
