Heavy Gun Interviews Kait_Bee of Breathe Easy Live Free.com

Hey Heavy Gunners, we have not done an interview in a while so it’s time to pick that back up. Kait_Bee is a young blogger out of Pittsburg with an eye for indie hiphop, lets throw the Q/A gauntlet at her and see what she comes up with.

HG: So, how did your blog get its name (Breathe Easy Live Free)?
I actually saw the phrase somewhere a long time ago & it always stuck with me. It’s kind of always been a life-motto for me. When I first created my blog I didn’t really intend on it being a hip hop blog, so I named it Breathe Easy Live Free; then it turned into a hip hop blog. Even though it doesn’t sound very hip-hoppy, I’d like to think it’s more unique sounding than some hip hop blogs out there like Hip Hop Super Exclusive Zone VIP Swag or something along those lines.

HG: Name one thing you would change about hip hop right now.

I would change who record labels give attention to; labels are signing these wack rappers & deeming them cool. I want to see rappers that deserve to be signed get the record deals.
I'd rather them sign these artists on the come up who have genuine, talent & originality & who make quality music- those are the people that deserve to be heard. In my opinion, a majority of “hip hop” that is on the radio is total garbage & people don’t even realize it.

HG: What other music do you listen to besides hiphop?

I love all types; reggae, rock, classic, R&B, jazz, funk, except country, I don’t really mess around with that, unless it’s Garth Brooks, he used to hold it down.

I’m a huge fan of music from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s like Earth Wind & Fire, Hall & Oats, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Al Green, Johnny Guitar Watson, Marvin Gaye. My music library is rather broad and random. One minute you’re listening to Tupac then Dave Matthews Band will come on.

HG: If you got locked up what would it be for, sex in a public place or murder?

Moonrise Kingdom

Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors. Not because of his brilliant dialog, stellar story telling abilities, or the way he can contribute to an actor becoming a character. Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors because of the cinematography in his films, the way his films look. They have a almost antique look to them, but there is also a touch of fantasy mixed in. To me a Wes Anderson film takes place in a different world. I sincerely cannot wait for Moonrise Kingdom.

The Maccabees - Pelican

I hate how the term "Relevant" when they categorize on Vimeo...

The Maccabees - Pelican from Blink on Vimeo.

Directed by David Wilson. David lovingly destroyed a collection of objects for The Maccabees, slicing the likes of televisions, fruit and heads (thankfully, not real ones) in half to illustrate the journey from birth to death
