I'm ok, but is vinyl?
Super storm 2008 (As I have so dubbed it) has been gripping Arizona for the last 2 days. A massive 10 mile wind from the north is coming down and a gigantic .5 in of rain has blasted the area. My food stores were low so I braved the weather in search of some protein. In -n- Out burger is easily my favorite burger joint. Sorry Indiana folks you are not cool enough to have one. But I was told to hit up FatBurger. I honestly thought it was just a made up joint from the Nick show Kenan and Kel. Nope it’s real. I’m not going to lie I was a little disappointed with it. The fries were like burger king fries (Foul!!!) the burger was overall yummy but not great. In-n-Out still kills.
Afterwards, I hit up this record store. It was a small cool little shop, with all types of genres. I picked up a couple local artists who had some 10’ inches out. I didn’t even listen to them but 2 of them had colored vinyl and some nice art work. And pretty much anytime local folks take time do go out of their way to press vinyl and do nice art work I feel the need to support. Which gets me to my question…? What is everyone one else’s vinyl buying habits? Do you still buy it? If you have switched to serato but still have tons of old pieces lying around, what are you going to do with them? Keep them? Sell them? Has the market for old breaks bottomed out? I have my ultimate list of about 150 records I would like to have for varies sentimental reasons but thats pretty much it. I still buy if I think something is cool, but my motives have changed alot. I have seen studies that say the sales of vinyl are up the last few years. But I think that is just due to nice box sets the artist are putting out (think Portishead). But what do I know I’m just a drunk dude with no job. What do youuuuu think?

man I don't know about that record shit. but I do know about "in and out burger"! yeah it's the shit! the only thing we have to compare it to in Indy is a mix between steak n shake and 5 guys. ( what would you say 812? that About right?) oh except they only have 3 things on the menu lol!
ReplyDeleteMos Def. 5 guys is was my spot in Indy. Both have super fresh food.My only beef ( pardon the pun) with 5 guys is they give you a ton of fries. Really they give you a big brown bag full to the brim like you are an Ethiopian slave. In-N-Out does only have 3 thing on the menu...Hambuger...Cheeseburger and Hotdogs but the do have a secret menu, which I will post the full details soon.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I was severly disappointed with 5 guys burgers, as was my girl. I can only hope In & Out is better...
ReplyDeleteAs for vinyl, I still pick up the occasional 12", especially if its an indie artist. I just bought Bird Peterson's latest EP from the UK, for example. I've got a few thousand pieces of wax still in the crib, mostly because I haven't made the time to digitize them. But 150 core joints? I can't see the day. Ideally, I'd like to have my favs, but thats gonna be about 1000, at least.
