Everything I've been playing around with these days seems to turn out mixed media-- some random melange of pencil, pen, watercolor, and markers. I like to doodle before falling asleep and started sketching this little drawing from a photo of M.I.A from a fashion mag advert. It's about 6 inches high on the page, but close up and cropped for the photo.
I love the idea of that corny fan art, the kind musicians and actors must get tons of. The best kind are done by adolescents daydreaming during math class: heavily pencil shaded Tupac with gothic script, David Lee Roth in vibrant markered spandex. Heartfelt, poorly executed renderings of glamour and dreams, invested with fantasies about someone else's life.
