But it's rare that we hear a track that puts hip-hop in the role of an ever-lasting inspiration or friend. Lupe Fiasco embraced that concept on The Cool highlight "Hip-Hop Saved My Life," which was actually based on the story of Houston rapper Slim Thug.
And today, we're hearing a different take on this narrative via Hieroglyphics co-founder Pep Love. The West Coast stalwart has released the visuals for his own hip-hop anthem, the fittingly titled "Hip-Hop, My Friend." The video focuses on the five pillars of the culture, which means you get to see plenty of stylish shots of breaking, DJing, graffiti writing, beatboxing, and, courtesy of Pep Love, MCing.
If you love hip-hop or you have just been wondering what Pep Love's new album, Rigmarole, is going to sound like, you're going to dig this. You can watch the video below. Rigmarole, the Hiero rapper's first solo album in 11 years, drops March 6.
